The Zenith El Primero Movement in the Daytona
In 1988 The Daytonas give a big step with the first automatic movement.. Based on the Zenith El-Primero caliber 400, makes it known till today as the Zenith Daytona. It Was not a Simple Zenith movement in a Daytona – the base caliber suffered more than 200 modifications before reaching Rolex Standards and having its own reference number – the caliber 4030. Severe modification on the balance bridge, adding Rolex’s Micro-Stella adjustment system, as well as the shock-proofing system. The rotor, lower plate and escapement wheel were replaced together with an increase on power reserve from 42 to 52 hours.
The finished 4030 movement was submitted for COSC testing , that after passed allowed Rolex to insert SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED to the dial
